  Traction control issue

Last week I replaced the rear tires with General Exclaims, 255/35/19. The front tires are still the Michellin Pilot Sports 225/40/19 and still in good shape. Twice now on the freeway during sweeping mild speed right hand turns, the traction control has cycled on and off. If you'd like a nasty thrill, just have a phantom despress the brakes when taking a turn as that's what this feels like. The "slip" light comes on and pulses. Truely a freaky experience.

Your ideas would be helpful. Can this be resolved by replacing the front tire with the Generals to match the rears? I'd go with 235/35/19 for the fronts.

i know tire size and certian staggered setups can confuse the VDC to think there is wheel spin and thus began braking and throttle reduction... so my guess would be that your tire setup might the culpert...

im not a tire size guru.. so someone else would need to chime in on what you need to change tire wise...

then again what is "mild" speed? you might actually be slipping...

The issue with staggered setups is with the G35x, since his car says '05 Coupe 6MT, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Those tires shouldn't do that. I've had no problems. Swapped the 17s for 19, with 255/30 rear and ran the 225/35 front for alittle while without issue, but now have a 235/35

Yes its a good idea. They all have to have the same circumference.... thats how the traction control works

If you rear tires are tuning faster than the fronts, it thinks its slipping....

Makes sense and thanks. Every time I exit from the freeway using a clover leaf offramp the traction control comes on. I've been manaully turning it off because it's so bad. I guess I'll be buying front tires sooner than I expected.

TireRack's specifications for your front tires, old rear tires and new rear tires.

Front: Michelin 225/40-19 Diameter = 26.0"
Old rear: Michelin 245/40-19 Diameter = 26.1"
New rear: General 255/35-19 Diameter = 26.7"

Previously, fronts and rears were almost the same size. Now the rears are almost 3/4" taller.

You will have to ask someone more knowledgeable than I if the VDC will adapt to the difference or if it will remain confused until you get front tires that are the same diameter as the rears.
