I'm 18 years old and life in Florida. With the ways things are going here, and from the love of mountains and snow I've been highly considering moving to your beloved country after med school.

I was just wondering the ups and downs to this decision, and also if I got my Ph.D here in America, would it still hold true in Canada.

Also I am a Skoal addict and I heard the cans are half the size but twice the price...wtf.

I personally LOVE Ontario where I'm from. Many people there seem to think it's cold here 24/7. When in fact we have seasons here like some places in US. Our summers here in Toronto Ontario are damn hot and our winters haven't been too bad the last few years. If you REALLY like winter, you'll want to go away to Calgary, Alberta (AWESOME MOUNTAINS) and Quebec.

Canada is a BEAUTIFUL country even though alot of the Yanks here poke fun at us all the time

As far as your Ph.D I am VERY confident it is the same and you could easily have it recognized by a Canadien University.

Things are getting out of hand in the wild west...

I'm on the far east side baby, Halifax. We have a vibrant urban community, good wages, and the crime rates here are way below BC and Alberta... we'll, a bit below.

CDHA is the health authority, you would have no problem with your credentials... Is Florida like a ghost town or something? I heard houses were going for like $1 (foreclosures.)? I dunno, Canada is the place to be, I've been everywhere, and I like Nova Scotia the Best, Ontario 2nd, and BC/Alberta tied for 3rd.

Skoal, and other tobacco related products will cost you more, while some things may be the same or less. The Canadian Dollar is not quite as strong as it was a few months ago, but I feel with the huge land mass, and oil deposits, Canada will be a big player in global sustainability, and that will soon be reflected in our economy.

One thing that you wouldn't like though is that most ppl speak french as its the primary language.

Ontario has nicer roads too

I came to Canada first with my father( his business trip). I was like 7-8. It was summer so instead of go home we were here for 3 weeks. His friend took us up north for fishing. If you ever seen some cool place man. No need to carry drinking water. I loved it but the biggest impression was in my mind the end of the roads. In Europe or anywhere I went there was always road. Here we went up North and there was no more road at all. Lots of land but no road. I literally stood there and ust could not believe it. LOL I was like cooooool. hahahah
We jumped on a scary small airplane and we were flying for another 2-3 hours to the fishing place. We loved it with my father and as you can tell I keep talking about. That just something what I will never forget.

I love 4 season and would not be able to live without it. Keeps everything more interesting. As Sean said the summer is hot as hell. Well for us anyway. Than as you get bored of it the season goes another comes. Each season has its own cool part. If you learn to enjoy it you would love it.

It's actually not that bad. I'm not trying to sound racist or anything but most of the houses that are being foreclosed are those owned by lower class blacks and minorities. I am almost 100% positive if you look up the top 10 wealthiest cities in America Naples, Florida and Boca Raton, will show up.

I agree, from everything I have seen..Vancouver is absolutly beautiful with some SERIOUS fishing too!!

Although there are regional differences, just like in the United States, Canada is, on the whole, more liberal, left-wing and socialist. Think about where the Democratic party would like to take the United States. Canada is already there. Some examples are

You should consult an immigration lawyer to be sure, but I believe you could become a Canadian citizen without giving up your American citizenship. If you want to go to school in Canada, and especially if you want financial support, you need to read the fine print about residency requirements.

As I have pointed out, there are differences between the two countries. Pick the one that suits you better. You don't want to have to swim against the current in order to make progress toward your own goals.
